So the first month as an AmeriCorps VISTA is complete! One week of training, and three weeks on the job. It's been amazing so far. I have a hard time explaining to people what my "job" is since I have been able to do so much already. I love it! :)
Life after college has been great so far. I feel so much less stress and am able to really spend time doing things that I am excited about. I have been meeting with Tara and her design partner on designing an outdoor classroom for the Saul H.S. up the street. We met with one of the people in charge of teaching one of the classes there. I'm excited to not only be helping people at work, but also just for fun! I'm helping design and price out the structure that we can potentially build in the spring. It's going to be a fantastic experience, and it's more on the love side of my love/hate relationship with architecture.
I also wrote my first blog post for the First Five Alumni Council. Hopefully people read it and find some inspiration!
I have learned so much about incorporating service into everyday things in my life. So far, my goal of becoming an AmeriCorps member is being met and surpassed. I am learning so much about Habitat, serving people, and creating sustainability within a program. I can't wait to see what the next few months will bring!
