"If you're brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting, which can be anything from your house to bitter, old resentments, and set out on a truth-seeking journey, either externally or internally, and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue and if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher and if you are prepared, most of all, to face and forgive some very difficult realities about yourself, then the truth will not be withheld from you." - Eat. Pray. Love.
Although my dad always joked that I was going to go abroad and "eat, pray and love", I do love the movie and appreciate it for the small inspirational moments like the quote above. I felt like my entire world had changed when I came home but really, nothing had changed. I had changed. I understand and see what was truly going on in front of my own eyes. I understand and appreciate the love from my friends and family, including those in Denmark. I understand that part of life is changing, making difficult decisions, and sharing every moment with the people who mean the most to you.
It's been rough coming back to this life with a new perspective. It's a struggle everyday that I'm dealing with. But it's part of growing, taking experiences and actually doing something about it. So that's where I'm headed and maybe one day I'll find myself back biking in the streets of Copenhagen.
